Abstract:

Oncologic surgery has evolved toward a minimally invasive, precise, and personalized model. The centralization of complex oncologic procedures in specialized referral units, located within hospitals managing a high volume of oncology patients, has become essential.
In general and digestive surgery, technological advances, the integration of systemic therapies, and a deeper understanding of tumor biology have transformed surgical indications and techniques. This article reviews the most recent technological innovations in thyroid, parathyroid, and gastrointestinal surgery (including the esophagus, stomach, colon, liver, biliary tract, and pancreas), highlighting their impact on clinical outcomes.
The surgical management of oncology patients should be undertaken from a multidisciplinary perspective, within the framework of specialized surgical units equipped to deliver the highest possible standards of efficiency and quality.
Key words: Technological innovation, oncologic surgery; minimally invasive surgery; thyroid; gastrointestinal cancer; neoadjuvant therapy; robotics.
